Trail to Scouts is a program first developed in 1993 by a scout from Troop 335 to excite and enable Arrow of Light scouts to continue on their scouting journey. During the event, scouts will be assigned to a patrol led by Troop Guides and will travel between stations that provide exposure to skills used at the Scouts BSA (troop) level. During the morning, adults will travel with the scouts and observe the different stations while learning about the adult transition from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA. During the afternoon, scouts will be led by Troop Guides to the same stations and practice what they learned during the morning session while the adults will participate in a roundtable discussion about scouting. Additionally, the weekend will include skits, songs, campfire, and food.
In the past, this program was named Webelos to Scouts and was made available to both Webelos and Arrow of Light scouts. Effective June 1, 2024, BSA has updated its program to clarify the difference between the Webelos and Arrow of Light programs, determining that the Arrow of Light program is what prepares Cub Scouts to join Scouts BSA. As such, our program has been updated to align with BSA’s updates, focusing on Arrow of Light scouts. Every year there is a new youth director and assistant youth director who design and work with the adult leadership and youth staff to execute the program. Our goal is not for you to join Troop 335 but to empower Arrow of Light scouts to realize the benefits of continuing on their trail to Eagle.
Troop 335 is a scout-led, High Adventure troop based in McCandless, PA. We strive to live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law through monthly outings, weekly meetings and active support of our community.
